I’m announcing the launch of http://www.reelpost.com. It’s a social media and job site for all post-production professionals (editors, vfx, mograph, sound etc.). It’s function is post-production collaboration and networking. I really like this site. It’s one of those sites that you can just leave it up while you’re editing. I love going through and watching everyone’s reels. ReelPost is a tool necessary to promote yourself and ideas within the post-production online community. It’s the easiest way to build a team on short notice for last minute projects, test new ideas and stay in touch with colleagues that you may hire or hire you someday.
For myself I’ve always been big on networking. I believe it’s crucially important to network myself. Now editing is not a big thing where I am, maybe if you’re in LA it’s easy but in most other places I think not. So that’s why online networking is huge for editors and other post workers (especially freelance) and for production studios and companies. That’s why I started this group. Linkedin is good, but reelpost.com is a dedicated website. That’s why I love it, it’s sort of like facebook and linkedin rolled into one solely for post-production employees.
You can use it to host your portfolio or quickly upload videos for screening purposes or later use. You can also use it to keep track of your schedule and business contacts. In other words, you can use this tool to centralize many of the tasks that you need to accomplish on a daily basis.
The guy who created it, Rob Hoffman, owns a staffing agency in NY that staffs editors. That’s a great connection right there. He’s always looking for editors in New York. He’s also a member of this group One of the reasons why you have to use this site is because employers looking for post talent can search and find you on this site. That’s one of it’s main functions.
Anyway enough talk, I recommend that you take a look at it, http://www.reelpost.com
