The daytime talk show host with a huge social media presence promises no mean-spirited videos, and lots of funny ones.
Ellen DeGeneres has launched her own video sharing site.
Ellentube –created by DeGeneres in concert with ”The Ellen DeGeneres Show” executive producers Mary Connelly, Ed Glavin and Andy Lassner — will be her fans one stop destination for all of her online content, which averages more than 100 million views per month on YouTube.
Ellentube isn’t just for DeGeneres, though. Like YouTube, her fans can also upload their own funny, touching, one-of-a-kind videos, all of which will be reviewed by the her team before being posted to the site.
Want to be on TV? The best user videos will be considered for possible showcase on her daytime talk show.
DeGeneres has a huge social media presence, with more than 33 million Twitter followers and six million followers on Instagram. In 2013, she ventured into the app world with the release of her game, Heads Up!, which has more than 5.5 million paid downloads to date.
“It’s a place that you can find videos that are hilarious and interesting. We’re going to post things from the show that you won’t see anywhere else,” DeGeneres said. “And what makes our site different than any other place is that if you accidentally type in a wrong word, you’re not going to stumble upon something that’s bad or mean or something like that. You know how that can happen. So everything on the site is fun, and there is nothing mean-spirited.”
“I love videos. I love watching videos that people send to me. I love posting videos from my show. I love it so much, I wanted to create a safe place where we could all share our videos together. We can laugh, we can go ‘awww’, and we can do what the internet was made for — watch videos of cats. Share your videos with me here, and I’ll share mine. It’s just like when the pilgrims and the Native Americans came together on the first Thanksgiving, but with fewer brussels sprouts.
Enjoy ellentube! All I ask is that we keep it clean, and positive. I can’t wait to see your videos.”
